stressed and horny as fuck

end of semester approaches like a scythe...i have to pick up the pace or else get cut with the end of term...papers, projects, labs...i am too old for this shit...why did i wait so long to go back, bleh...

i dont see the point and i KNOW that it will not affect the "real-life"...and therein lies my dilemma...these instructors know what is expected in the real world and yet they are setting up these kids for failure by telling them that these things will be there...and they wont...why tell a student "i dont really care about your grammar or spelling, just do the assignment"...what kind of message are we sending the young people in school...these young people will one day be in positions of leadership...and they dont have a damn clue what that entails...

we have moved too far away from a world of individual responsibility to the ridiculously over-used "accountability"...all that means is "find a way to CYA (cover your ass)"...we are losing the individualization that has made us so great...

we welcome words like "unity"..."team"..."group"..."community"...and that scares me...

while i welcome a strong feeling of togetherness, i am leery of things that drive with such force towards "sameness"...we are not the same...we are all different and we must embrace those things that make us who we are...some of us may celebrate those differences...some of us may keep them beneath the radar...and some of us lose that part and become simply one of many...

fuck...i am stressed...my knee aches...i am horny...tired...fuck...i need a drink and sex...right now..in that order...

you see the world clearly. that is unique. you see the academic world for what it is. BUT you have to know for the most part you need that 'degree' to just 'get in' most places. In my world, Master and Phd are now preferred. Everybody is unique. Unique in the way they think, reason, in the way their individual bodies act and react, store stress etc....

We all seem to want sex though.. well, maybe not all but most of us do!

i am not negating the need/use of a college degree...what i find fault with is the education process in general...everything is done to make everyone successful based on the idea that it is the grade that is the important part...it is the application that is important in the real world...what good does it do these kids if they have a degree but cannot apply what they have supposedly learned...we have applied the same concept of the auto assembly line to education...keep moving, smooth machine...

I think what makes education unique is what you put into it and the end result is what you take away. Hang in there and enjoy the ride!

curiousgirl said...

@dav - ride??...that is NOT the kind of ride to be enjoyed...

Very well said. I totally agree that education needs to focus more on developing individual skills and proficiency. Letting your "team" carry you is not the way to be successful in real life.

Also, I could always use a drink and sex, in that order. I need a fuck buddy for each day of the week! Shit. : )

@dateable - amen!

cg - myabe not the kind of RIDE we'd like..but when you look back on it, you'll see what I meant. Life is a journey.... Now go have some sex and THEN study!!

curiousgirl said...

@dav - i am still at the point where studying is a bit optional...if that makes any sense!

@cg - I think so..but not positive lol. It is nice to have options though :)

@dav - of course it is positive...i just happen to be one of those who has always done well in school without really trying...once in a while i hit an area that i just blink and stare at...for the most part i can figure it out as i go and i do well on exams so at this point i figure why bother with the whole studying thing?

hmmm..better to blink and stare at it then to just say no! Oops you meant school work!! Sighhhhh....
